Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I actually start studying?
Open Subjects from the main menu and pick a topic that matches what you are learning in class. Each topic is one scrolling journey: Discover, Learn, Practice, and Apply. Follow the path in order or jump to Practice if you already know the basics. The Study plan page helps when you want a weekly goal and suggested next topics.
Do I need an account, and what happens to my progress?
No: you can use StudyQuest as a guest. Guest progress is saved in your browser, so clearing site data or switching devices without signing in will reset it. If you create a free account and sign in, progress syncs to your account and can carry over to other devices. The first time you log in, progress you already built locally is migrated when possible.
What counts toward my progress bar on a topic?
Completing practice on a topic updates your progress there: quizzes, flashcards, matching activities, and similar work in the Practice act. Reading in Learn alone does not mark everything complete; you need to do the practice. Your overall history, XP, streaks, and mastery live on the My Progress page.
What is the AI Tutor, and can I trust its answers?
The AI Tutor explains ideas in plain language and can walk you through steps. You will find it on the global AI Tutor page and as an optional ambient helper while you read in a journey. It is a study helper, not a replacement for your teacher or textbook; always verify anything that will be graded, especially numbers, dates, and definitions your instructor emphasized.
How do the Tools section and topic pages differ?
Topic pages teach a specific unit with a study guide, connections or story, practice, and review. Tools (formula library, unit converter, equation solver, graphing helpers, and more) are standalone utilities you can open while doing homework across subjects. They do not automatically mark a topic complete unless you use practice inside that topic.
How does the leaderboard work?
XP comes from studying: quizzes, activities, streaks, and related actions. The leaderboard ranks learners by XP, but you only appear if you turn on "Show on leaderboard" in Settings. It is optional; many students keep it off.
My teacher or parent wants to see what I did. How does that work?
They set their role to Teacher or Parent in Settings and give you an invite code. Enter that code in your Settings while signed in to link your account. After linking, they can see your recent completions on their Dashboard. They only see activity from students who linked; StudyQuest does not share guest progress or enroll a whole class automatically.
Is StudyQuest really free?
Yes. Topics, practice, tools, and the AI Tutor are available at no cost. We may add optional features later, but the core study experience is free.
Something in a lesson looks wrong. How do I report it?
Use Support → Feedback for structured reports (your role and rating help us prioritize), or the contact form on this page. Include the topic name, which journey act or quiz had the issue, and what you think is incorrect. Screenshots help when math or history details are involved.
